When To Take Measurements:
If you have swelling in the affected limb, it is best to take measurements
when it is in its most reduced state. Usually the best time is
first thing in the morning, or after a therapy treatment.
Medications:
Some medications such as diuretics cause release of retained fluid
in the body. If you are on these types of medications, be sure
you measure once you are on a stable dosage. If you are unsure
as to whether your measurements are fluctuating, take and record
them for a few mornings to compare.
When Measurements Fall Outside
the Table:
If you exceed a size range, do not choose a compression stocking size
bigger or smaller. First compare…one of our other manufacturers
may have a correctly fitting item for you in your range. If not, you
will need a custom order. All manufacturers are able to take custom
measurements, but since they are made just for you, and a certified
fitter must take your measurements, your order can take a few weeks
to process. If you live in the Seattle area and would like to be measured
by a certified fitter, contact us for an appointment. If not, your
physician or therapist may know of a certified fitter in your area.
Need help?
If you are having problems reaching to measure for your compression stockings,
don’t guess your measurements! Ask a friend or your therapist for
assistance. If you are still having trouble, please contact us.
